India Vs Pakistan --- againnnnn

Venue : Sepang International Circuit
Kualalumpur
Occasion :- A1 Grand Prix
Sprint Race :- A1 team India driver “Armaan Ebrahim” started the race in 15th place on grid. He had a strong start and was able to put up a best lap time of 1 min 57.770 sec. Though he missed out on scoring a point ( firstever) by just one place but he beat Adam Khan of Team Pakistan quite comprehensively despite starting behind him.
Feature Race :- ( Now thats interesting ) Starting from the 11th place he had a good start and moved upto the 7th place into the first corner but he was pushed onto grass by Adam Khan going into turn two. This made him lose 7 positions and was pushed back to 14th place. But Armaan didnt loose his nerve and again putting up fantastic laps caught up with Adam Khan. At this time he was lapping one second faster than Adam Khan and it was just a matter of time before he made his move on Adam Khan. Coming into turn 4 he came right behind Adam Khan when Adam braked much earlier than Armaan's normal braking point and there was a contact. Armaan stamped hard on his brakes locking all the four tyres and hit Adam from behind sending him off the track and managed to keep his car together. But it forced him to go to pit. The team did a quick pit stop ,changed all the four tyres, and the entire front wing and nose cone assembly .After hittingthe track again he was the third fastest car and was about to takeover RSA driver when there was a suspension failure due to the previous injury and the car spinned. He managed to start his car with the help of the marshals but was later black flagged as no external assistance is allowed.
Lets see what comes up in Dubai !!!

S.Manjunath --- Salute to the Martyr

On 19th the much unknown sales officer of IOCL posted at Lakhimpur Khiri under Bareilly Office was brutally murdered by a few people connected with the retail outlet. He was punished for sealing Mittal Automobile Petrol Pump at Gola, about 50 km away from Lakhimpur district for adulteration of petrol. Needless to say the murder refreshed the memories of murder of Stayendra Dubey - the unfotunate IITian who did the whistle blowing against the corruption on the Golden quadrilateral . Manjunath's death has outraged one and all. In a country like India that ranks 88 in the corruption index Manjunath's heroic act was rewarded by the indiffrent , apathetic treatment by the media. Just search for any insignificant news on google and you will get plenty of pages from diffrent news agency but type Manjunath IOCL and you will see how the news has disappeared ( or cleared) from the electronic media. There are only blogs , threads and articles. Here is a link to an Indian Express Article. According to the latest reports six people were arrested for the murder including Monu Mittal , the owner of the petrol pump. The blog of Gaurav Sabnis touched everyone. Here are some other links -
IOC official seals petrol pump, is killed
Oil crusader gunned down
His friends have started a blog in his memory . Please visit the blog to write a condolence message.
Manjunath has set an example for all of us to follow. He knew the danger with which he was playing but he never turned his back to these challenges. And lets salute him by saying that NEITHER WILL WE .

Grow Up !!!

I did not sleep last night. Not because i was tinkering over something, actually i was playing Heroes 4 . Don't tell me you don't know whats Heroes 4. Ofcourse its a strategy game. I still remember the days when final exams of final year were over at IIT. We (me , shounak and chirantan) used to wake up the whole night playing diffrent strategy games. Sometimes it was AOE ( Oh man its age of empires), sometimes civilisation and most of the times it was Heroes. That does not mean i dont like shooting games. I defeated Xan at the toughest stage. Completed Project IGI in record three days (the same old days at IIT). After waking whole night we used to have breakfast either at cheddis or the dhabba ( shame on me - i forgot the name !!) near to the boundary wall of our hostel. Ahhh and then sleeeeeeeep. Those were the most beutifull days of my life. At BHEL we (me , rituraj and neetu) managed to have a nightout to play "empire earth". And yesterday i was lucky again. I think its time to GROW UP. What do you say ??? ---Yessss.... So stop playing those card games on your comp and start playing heroes. For any assistance i will always be there :-)

Stray thoughts of an intellect ( the BUT I WONDER guy )

Yesterday we were discussing about how tough is the IAS(UPSC) exam. In general the trend is shifting from preparing for IAS to CAT. What can be the reason. People spend years preparing for the ;exam some of them even touch the interview stage but most of them fail. Coaching institutes are doing assembly line production of IAS aspirants raising their hopes. The syllabus to be prepared is vast or rather i should invent a new word to describe its spread. But i wonder if any of the UPSC ( IAS + IPS + IFS et al ) officers ever use any of this knowledge. For example if you have chosen electrical as one of the subjects after clearing the exam i believe that even iota of that knowledge is not required in future. There is a colossus need to change the syllabus of these exams. Why should one keep on mugging up the names and length of all the rivers in the world or the names of all the viceroy of India if he has to be posted as an IAS officer in (say) Assam.
