Six days in a village in Kerala

I stored my lappy with tons of movies so that I can pass time in the village of Ottapalam where I was supposed to spend 6 days working on a feasibility study of a cancer hospital for an NGO. This place is around 90 Km from Kozhikode where I am staying at present. We ( three of us) decided to carry ourselves with our baggage on three bikes. As planned we woke up early ( that’s the most difficult part for me ) , had our breakfast ( after so looooong I was having breakfast) , packed our baggage and embarked on our journey . We had only reached the parking lot when we found that one of the bikes was punctured …. Well things happen for good ( that’s how we pacified ourselves ) and kick started our journey . The roads started to get worse as we managed to find our way to Ottapalam .. One of the trustee was supposed to wait in his grey santro on the side of the road to signal us where to stop … and as I have previously stated things happen for good.. one of the rider missed that signal .. so it took me 10 minutes of a typical cop- thief chase ( honking horns , waving hands and doing all sort of things) but finally I got hold of him and brought him back. They have arranged for us to stay in the traditional house of one of the trustee. As we entered the house ( I should call it mansion) we could not manage but to say WOW ….. the food was ready and it took us a few minutes to finish it off…. After so long we were having home cooked food ( ghar ka bana khana…. yum yum) . Besides doing the task we were there for , we went to Kalamandalam which was founded in 1927 by the revere poet Vallathol… it’s a dance school .. they were having a fest sort of ..we watched jugalbandi, mohaniyattam etc there. I was amazed to see the enthusiasm that the young people were showing at KM towards the classical art . At evening we used to go to the market and from the standard of the shopping complexes there I concluded that I was wrong .. Ottapalam is not a village .. it’s a town because people don’t drive merc and chevy optra in a village. As we finished the task we were planning to stay there for some more time. But due to some prior commitments we left …..
